Turmeric can increase your yoga glow

This is the second post we have done on Turmeric now and there is a huge reason why: Turmeric is one of the best spices to complement your yoga practice because it impacts on the body on so many levels. Yoga effects the body, mind and spirit, and turmeric helps your practice on all three of these levels.

Turmeric has been a star in the east for centuries. Its considered the queen of spices and not without good reason: turmeric has been used as medicine, is linked to fertility, luck and used to symbolise inner purity and inner pride – and for those reasons yogis in the east have been using it for its healing properties for a very long time.

1.     Body: When you work out, your body often experiences some type of inflammation. Turmeric is one of nature's most powerful anti-inflammatories - it’s great for muscle aches and general healing and soothing of the body after your practice. On an energetic level yoga improves the flow of vital energies in the body and turmeric increases the flow of prana (vital energies) in our bodies which helps the purification of vital energies. So, a little Turmeric may just help you get a little more yoga glow.

2.     Spirit: Yoga is all about keeping the balance with your health and overall wellbeing, however, even the most well balanced people experience stress, indulge and overindulge in foods they probably shouldn’t, consume alcohol or ingest too much wheat… Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and great for digestion. It helps balance the body from any of those things which may wear it down.

3.     Mind: Yoga emphasises purification of both the body and mind. Through asanas you can cleanse body toxins and achieve a great feeling of 'zen'. Turmeric also plays a similar cleansing role inside our body and mind. Turmeric has been proven to help aid brain function and prevent damage to brain cells.  A body free of toxins and inflammation remains healthy and most importantly fit for yoga.

So, turmeric is a serious super spice. The great thing about it is that it's super easy to incorporate into your everyday meals and drinks. Take a look at Turmeric & Co for some easy and delicious recipes.
